Father beheads 5-yr-old son for N1m in Adamawa

Detectives attached to the homicide unit of the Adamawa State police command have commenced investigations to unravel the circumstance that led a 24-year-old man to behead his five-year-old son.

The dastardly act occurred last Wednesday in Ganji suburb of Gombi Local Government of Adamawa State, when Baffa Alti, 24, a cattle rearer, lured his biological son, Buba, to the farm and beheaded him.

The father of the beheaded child, Baffa Alti (left) and Alhaji Sange Hassan, the accomplice.

Adamawa State police command where the suspect alongside his accomplice were paraded gave a vivid account of how the suspects were arrested.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Ibrahim Mohammed, a DSP, told newsmen that the father of the prime suspect, Alhaji Guza, had earlier reported to the police in Gombi that his grandson was missing.

Guza also told the police that the boy went to the farm with his father, only for the father to return home without him.

According to the police, when Alhaji Guza accosted his son, asking for the whereabouts of his grandson, he told his father that he left him behind in the farm and that he would return later.

Days rolled by and the boy did not return from the farm which made Guza to lodge a complaint at the Gombi divisional police station where a search party was commissioned.

The search led to the discovery of the beheaded decomposing body of Buba under a tree in the farm covered with leaves.

The suspect was later arrested and on interrogation, he said one Alhaji Sange Hassan, 63, told him to bring a human head for N1 million.

Baffa Datti confessed to committing the act, saying he intended using the money to raise the status of his father, mother and his family.

Alhaji Sange Hassan who is now cooling his heels in the cell of the state CID with Baffa Alti however, denied ever telling him to bring a human head.

The suspects, according to the police, will soon be charged to court after investigation.

Two Cousins Die While Having Sex In Imo [Pix]

Hell was let loose at Umualianya kindred Umumpe, Umuevu Okirika-Nweke in Ahiazu Mbaise LGA of Imo State last Monday when a man, Mr Mathias Nwoko and his female Cousin, Angela Ihuoma Anyanwu, met their untimely death while making love to each other.

Sources in the community said that the late Mathias, 45, had returned home from his Onitsha base to attend the priestly ordination of his kinsman, Rev. Fr. Anayochukwu Onuoha, held at Mater Dei Cathedral, Umuahia, Abia State last Saturday June 20 2013.

It was learnt that all through the ordination ceremony, Mathias and the late Angela were literally tied to each other, with the latter taking the front seat of the former’s jeep.

Their entanglement was said to have continued the next day, Sunday, during the ceremony marking the first Holy and Thanksgiving Mass at Holy Ghost Parish, Umuevu Okirika-Nweke.

The deceased were also seen together at the ordination reception and later at the compound of the new priest where they were dancing to the music coming from Mathias’ car’s loudspeakers, while he occasionally was shooting gunshots from his pump action gun as Angela fed him with cartridges.

Interestingly, the deceased cousins were among family members who received prayers from the new priest, who earlier enjoined the people of the community to shun hypocrisy, atrocities and other iniquities if they must avoid God’s anger.

The late Mathias who was said to have been married for 13 years without any child, however, returned home with a young girl as his fiancée who he left in the house.

It was gathered that while the fiancée was home watching videos and waiting for Mathias, he only returned around 11pm and told her to go to sleep while he collected torchlight to see Angela off to her house.

But that was not to be as the duo diverted to Mathias’ semi-completed building.

Worried by her daughter’s non arrival to the house, Angela’s mother called her phone line but Mathias was said to have answered the phone telling the woman that her daughter was with him.

Also, alarmed by Mathias’ absence in the house up till Monday morning, his fiancée began to look for him within the house and was shocked to have stumbled on the unclad but entangled bodies locked in death.

She immediately alerted Mathias’ family members who could not believe their eyes. Also, Angela’s mother who was returning from Morning mass was simply speechless at the sight of the deceased.

The lady who was on top of the man had her blouse on but unclad from the waist region while the man had his singlet on his neck. The two were dead.

Their bodies were removed and deposited at Holy Rosary Hospital, Ogbor Nguru in Aboh Mbaise LGA.

When contacted, the state police public relations officer (PPRO), Mrs Joy Elemoko, promised to call back to inform our reporter about the outcome of police investigation.

Baby Rescued Alive From A Toilet Pipe After Being Flushed By Parents [Pix]

Firefighters in eastern China have rescued an abandoned newborn baby boy lodged in a sewage pipe. The infant was stuck in a pipe directly beneath a toilet commode, state television reported, in a case which has sparked anger on social media sites.

There are frequent reports in Chinese media of babies being abandoned, often shortly after birth.

The problem is attributed variously to young mothers unaware they were pregnant, the birth of an unwanted girl in a society which puts greater value on boys or China's strict family planning rules.

In the latest case the infant was found in the sewage pipe in a residential building in Jinhua in the wealthy coastal province of Zhejiang on Saturday afternoon.
The harrowing discovery came after residents reported the sound of a baby crying, state television said late on Monday.

The pipe was just four inches wide in diameter the China Daily newspaper said.

Firefighters had to remove the pipe and take it to a nearby hospital, where doctors carefully cut around it to rescue the baby boy inside, the report said.

His arms had been pinned to his side, and when the confines of the pipe had been delicately prised away, he let out a long wail - much to the relief of doctors who were battling against the clock to rescue him.

His eyes, face and body were covered in the filth of the pipe. The child is in a stable condition and the police are looking for his parents, state television added.
The Associated Press said the child had been named Baby No 59 from the number of his incubator, the Guardian reported.
A number of visitors have donated nappies, baby clothes and powdered milk to the hospital to help the little boy, the news agency added.
The case has been widely discussed on China's Twitter-like service Sina Weibo due to the graphic nature of the footage, with calls for the parents to be severely punished.

Woman Burns Her Son’s Face Over Soup [Pix]

A woman, Sakirat Attah, 25, has been arrested by the police at Elemoro Division, Lekki, Lagos, southwest Nigeria, for severely scalding her son’s face.

The petty trader who resides at Abijo village in Ibeju Lekki, allegedly carried out the dastardly act while punishing little Daniel for licking their neighbour’s soup.
N.H.NEWS gathered that Sakirat also used a broken bottle to stab Daniel in the head during her fit of anger and he sustained a deep cut in the head

Little Daniel with scalded face. Inset… Injury inflicted on his head by his mother
A police source told N.H.NEWS that the victim’s neighbours rescued him from the mother and quickly rushed him to a nearby hospital due to excessive loss of blood.

our agent gathered that trouble started for the little boy when their co-tenant allegedly caught him licking their pot of soup and reported him to his mother.

The mother of the child was said to have dragged her son inside her room and locked the door. She allegedly lit her stove and put an iron spoon on it to get hot and used it to burn her son’s face and hands as punishment.

It was also gathered that when the little boy was not cooperating with her, she allegedly broke a bottle and stabbed him in the head before neighbours who allegedly heard the boy crying for help  entered the woman’s room and rescued him.

During interrogation, the little boy allegedly admitted licking the soup because he was seriously hungry since his mother did not provide food for him to eat on time.

The neighbours, it was learnt, reported the matter to the police who arrested the woman.

During interrogation, she allegedly admitted scalding her son with hot spoon to teach him a lesson not to steal again, adding that she did not know that the torture would cause the boy such injuries.

After investigation, she was charged before an Igbosere Magistrate’s Court, Lagos on a one count charge of assaulting a minor occasioning bodily harm.

The offence, the prosecutor, Supol E. C. Ekuma said, contravened section 171 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge and the presiding chief magistrate, Mrs. Femi Segun admitted her on bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum with proof of two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

She also directed that one of the sureties must be a blood relation, while the other must be a community leader. She adjourned the matter till 27 June, 2013 for mention.

The defendant was, however, moved to Kirikiri Prison, Apapa, pending when she would fulfill the bail conditions.

Woman Kills Husband, Sets his Body Ablaze [Pix]

A woman named Esther Peter (pictured below) on Tuesday April 16th allegedly killed her husband, Kenneth Peter Anayo, then set his body on fire at their home at NEPA Phase I Road, Ijagemo, around the Ikotun area of Lagos. Neighbours said the couple was always fighting in public and in fact there was a serious fight between them a few days before the Tuesday incident, where Esther stabbed her husband with a broken bottle and he had to be treated at the hospital. Neighbours said they noticed that Esther and Peter's room was on fire around 2am that Tuesday morning and when they went there to help, they noticed that the room was locked from the outside. They managed to break down the door, and that was when they saw the burnt remains of Kenneth. Esther and her son were nowhere to be found.

Esther was later found around the area with her belongings in a bag trying to escape. Neighbours handed her over to the police from the Isheri-Oshun division, who later came to remove Kenneth's remains.

Esther, who is from Cross River told police that the fire was caused by the candle lit in their room while she went to fetch water but couldn't explain why the door was locked from the outside and why she had all belongings in a bag. Police say they have every reason to believe Kenneth was killed being burnt.

The case is being handled by the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Panti, Yaba, Lagos.

Monarch Beaten and Stripped After Angry Mob Burnt his Palace [Pix and Video]

There was pandemonium yesterday in Ado-Odo area of Ogun State as the palace of a monarch, the Olofin of Ado-Odo, Oba Lateef Adeniran Akanni, was razed by some aggrieved youths.
The monarch, Nigerian Compass learnt, had been having a running battle with some interest groups in the community, who allegedly did not want him despite a Supreme Court judgement validating his appointment three years ago.
According to sources, Oba Akanni was hospitalised following the severe beating he received from the rampaging youths.

The burnt palace has also been deserted as wives, children, family members and servants fled the area apparently for fear of being attacked again.
Trouble was said to have started for the traditional ruler when his Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) was flagged down by some people in the community.
In the process of attending to the people, the unsuspecting monarch was dragged out of his vehicle, beaten and stripped.

Though the incident may not be unconnected with the chieftaincy crisis in the town, another source attributed it to an alleged accident involving the monarch a few days ago.
Oba Akanni, according to the source, allegedly failed to visit a victim of the accident, a development which reportedly infuriated some community youths who plotted the attack.
The violence prompted the state Police Commissioner, Ikemefuna Okoye, and the state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Muyiwa Oladipo, to visit the area and douse tension.

Confirming the incident in a telephone interview yesterday, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi, said normalcy had been restored to the community.
Adejobi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), however, said he was unaware of the alleged stripping of the monarch.

“I know some people went to the palace and attacked the Oba of Ado-Odo but normalcy has been restored to the town. The Commissioner of Police has been there and we are going to ensure that the needful is done to bring all those involved in the act to book,” he added.

Also yesterday, the Ogun State government appealed to the people of Ado-Odo community to shun violence and maintain peace in order to promote socio-economic development of the state.
Speaking through the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Muyiwa Oladipo, the government described the attack on the monarch as “sheer lawlessness.”
Oladipo said there were ways the people could adopt to show their displeasure over the installation of the monarch that was reinstalled by the Supreme Court of the land rather than resorting to burning of houses, beating people and harassing the monarch.

While assuring the people of the state government’s readiness to find a lasting solution to the chieftaincy crisis, the commissioner said a panel of inquiry would be set up to look into the remote and immediate causes of the attack.
He called on all the sons and daughters of the community to come and tender relevant information that could be of assistance in resolving the crisis

Boko Haram Ambushes Returning WAEC Students And Principal And Slit Their Throat

Monguno Local Government Area of Borno State is about putting behind it the recent killing of six secondary school teachers, including a principal, the local government was again plunged into mourning as many students were, on Saturday, murdered in cold blood by some gunmen suspected to be members of the Jama’atul Ahlis Sunnah Lid’ Awati, also known as Boko Haram.

Sunday Tribune learnt that the gunmen killed many students of Monguno Secondary School by slitting their throats, after laying an ambush for them as they returned home from centres where they wrote the West African Examination Council (WAEC) Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE).

Monguno is 135 kilometres North of Maiduguri, the state capital; and it is considered to be an epicentre of activities of the Islamist sect.

The gunmen, according to a villager, Mallam Aisami, ambushed the candidates on their way home on foot and bicycles. He added that the assailants tied the students’ hands together at their backs and slit their throats on the foot paths leading to the school premises in the afternoon.

He said when the dastardly deed had been done, the gunmen fled on three motorcycles towards Marte Local Government Area of Northern Borno before men of the Joint Task Force (JTF) rushed to the scene three hours after the students were already slewn.

Spokesman of JTF, Lieutenant Colonel Sagir Musa, and the Borno State Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Musa Inuwa Kubo, confirmed the incident on Saturday.

They stated that it was a very “unfortunate and frightening incident,” decrying all that had been happening in the state.

Sagir and Kubo could, however, not ascertain the exact number of students allegedly killed by the suspects at Monguno.

Kubo, in a telephone interview, told journalists that; “I am calling on the people of Borno State to continue to pray and fast so that the incessant attacks and killings in the state cease peace and unity are restored.

Student waiting for her first salary got killed by Lover

Parents of Olaide Bournes, who was allegedly killed by her lover, are in agony and they want justice to take its course, writes GBENGA ADENIJI
Tears welled up the eyes of Mrs. Bournes as she welcomed our correspondent to her Aguda, Ogba residence. There were a few sympathisers outside the house, who came to comfort the Bournes family.

A few days earlier, Bournes had lost her daughter, Olaide, a part-time business administration student of the Lagos State Polytechnic, who was allegedly killed by her lover, Abuchi Cyril.

Initially, Mrs. Bournes was too heavy-hearted to talk about her loss, especially as the continued arrival of sympathisers reinforced the reality of her 22-year-old daughter’s demise.

Although there was nothing to suggest that she was walking to her death on the day she died, Olaide was reluctant to leave home, repeating the same house chore several times and taking a long time to dress up. She had planned to see her alleged killer, Abuchi, in his house and later head for a branch of an old generation bank to open an account in which her first salary would be paid.

She worked as a contract staff with a popular confectionery firm in Ikeja, Lagos State and she was expected to resume by 3pm on that fateful day.

Mrs. Bournes described her late daughter as a very quiet and peace-loving person whose death has created a big vacuum in the family.

She said, “She was always eager to assist others. Olaide hated argument or anything that will lead to a fight and she was never happy seeing people exchanging words. The day she died, we were together talking outside the house because I was waiting for the sanitation exercise to end so that I could display my wares. I am a trader and we observe sanitation every Thursday. Later, she went inside to get dressed and her phone rang. I had her phone with me so I rushed inside to give it to her. She told me it was Abuchi who was calling and that she wanted to see him before going to work. She said Abuchi was leaving for Malaysia during the week and had asked her to come so that they could celebrate before his departure.”

She added that before the deceased left home that day, she told her she would go to the bank to open an account where her first salary would be paid.

“She started working with the confectionary company on January 28 and was yet to get her first salary. They were told to provide their account details and many of her colleagues who had done so had been paid. She filled the form a day before the incident,” Bournes stated amidst tears.

But expectation of joy turned sorrow when, a few hours after her daughter left home, Mrs. Bournes noted changes in the way people were relating with her. She later learnt that Olaide was rushed to a nearby hospital where she died after she was allegedly beaten by Abuchi.

It was not the first time Olaide’s boyfriend had abused her. Mrs. Bournes confirmed that there were times when her daughter would return home sullen after visiting Abuchi. She recalled that she met Abuchi for the first time at a hospital where her daughter had gone to receive treatment for malaria.

“I asked my daughter who he was and she told me he was her friend. I remember that he sat looking as I questioned my daughter about his identity. Olaide used to tell me that the guy was fond of beating her and I warned her to be careful and desist from seeing him. But she would reply that they had settled whatever the problem was.”

Our correspondent gathered that the deceased and Abuchi had been dating for over three years before the final fatal meeting. It was also learnt that Abuchi, who lives close to the deceased’s house with his parents, often accused the late Olaide of cheating on him.

Abuchi, said to be popular in the area, was alleged to have beaten Olaide during an argument after which she hit her head against the ground in the suspect’s room and became unconscious. The suspect later went to the Area G Police Command to hand himself over to the police. He was subsequently detained.

The deceased’s father, Akindele Bournes, who was visibly distressed as he spoke to our correspondent, said he was shocked to learn that Abuchi attends the same church with him.

He stated, “I never knew that the suspect attends the same church with my family. At the close of service every Sunday, he would call my late daughter to tell her that he sat beside me in the church. I know that my daughter has been killed but the manner of her death was painful. I cannot believe that I have lost my girl. She was a source of joy to me. I want justice to be done. When I was at the Area G Police Command and the suspect was brought out for me to see. I was shocked when he said he knew me in the church.”

Olaide’s elder sister, Olabisi, said she would miss everything about her late younger sister. “I miss everything about my sister. Is it her smiles, jokes, beauty, gentle nature or caring attitude that I will forget? We did everything together being the only two around since our other sibling is not in Nigeria. She would joke about my choice of clothes and tell me what to put on and what not to. I would then tease her by saying ‘big girl.’ Her hearty smile to my taunt often made me laugh happily. I cannot believe she was gone forever,’’ she state.

The late Olaide’s friends in school, who paid the family a visit, were unable to hold back their tears. President of the institution’s students’ union, Mr. Udechukwu Ifeanyichukwu, said his first encounter with the late Olaide was in 2012 when she mistakenly stepped on him on the campus.

He said, “I told her she stepped on me and her response was so awesome. I didn’t forget the episode because I was moved by her apologies which was warm and courteous.

“Since then, I took notice of her and got to know that she was a very nice person. She was quiet and friendly. It is so painful that such a lady so full of hopes and promises could die so cruelly,” said Ifeanyichukwu.

When contacted on the telephone, the Deputy Police Public Relations Officers, Lagos State Police Command, Damascus Ozoani, said the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba, Lagos.

He said, ‘‘The suspect has been moved to the State CID where further investigation is currently ongoing on the case.’’

Boy Beheads Father in Cameroun [Pix]

The inhabitants of Buea Town are still to recover from the shock and consternation following the heinous killing of Pa Daniel Mbonde by his fourth son.

Friday, 15 March marked the untimely exit of Pa Daniel Mbonde, a retired Prison Warder beheaded in his farm by his own son whose name Cameroon Tribune got as Gabriel Mbonde alias “Daddy Black”.

Gabriel, 25, is presently languishing at the Buea Central Police station cell while the headless body of the father by press time (3pm Saturday) was brought to the family compound around the ‘Pala Pala field’ neighbourhood by the police for burial.

As the story goes, Pa Mbonde went to his farm situated around HUT One on the slopes of Mount Fako, Friday morning with one of his sons (Ndumbe). By 4pm, the two decided to go back home and each carried a long of wood. The young Ndumbe narrated that his father asked him to go ahead since he could not walk faster to the pace of the young man.

Somewhere along the road, he went on, he met with his elder brother (the assassin) and asked him where he was going by that time of the day but “Daddy Black” responded that he too was going to fetch his own firewood. Ndumbe said he questioned the brother how he was going to cut firewood without a machete but he said he was going to collect the machete from the father.

When by 6pm Pa Mbonde had not return, eyebrows were raised on what might have happened to him. Meanwhile, the said “Daddy Black” returned with a bag containing the head of his father. He is said to have moved with the said black bag around the neigbourhood claiming that his money is on the way coming. A woman who was also returning from her farm, Cameroon Tribune learnt, is reported to have seen somebody lying on the ground in the bush but did not border to verify. Following the search of the old man (in his early 70s according to family sources), the woman hinted the villagers who immediately went out to see for themselves.

The younger brother and other youths of the locality mobilized and got “Daddy Black” who admitted haven beheaded the father. He reportedly went to the house and brought out the father’s head. He was then taken to the Central Police Station where he is currently detained. Gabriel Mbonde a.k.a “Daddy Black” according to family sources has been a torn to the father’s flesh and the rest of the family.

He is said to have been on his father’s throat over monetary issues, accusing the father of selling the house and land without giving his own share. Cameroon Tribune also gathered that this is not the first time “Daddy Black” is committing such a flagitious act. He had some time ago, attempted to cut off the younger brother’s head. The incident left the brother (Ndumbe) with severe machete cuts which almost took his life.

“Daddy Black” again is reported to have raped his niece (younger sister’s child).

When he inflicted machete wounds on the brother, Cameroon Tribune learnt, he was detained in waiting trial at the Buea Central Prison but the father who is today the next victim, sold his house and land and bailed him out.

Housewife Dies After Séx With Neighbour

The price for adultery is fatal when one considers what happened recently in Badagry area Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, where a housewife died during séx with her neighbour, who is also married to another woman.

The man, Lawrence Chukwuma, landed in trouble after he had séx with Mrs Lucy Joseph, who died in the process.

The incident happened at 2nd Avenue, Oke-Morosun Magbon area of Badagry.

On the fateful day, the 48-year old Chukwuma from Anambra State, southeast Nigeria, reportedly woke up early and pretended that he was going to pursue his business and later came back when his own wife and Lucy’s husband had gone out.

It was gathered that while Chukwuma and Lucy were having the best of time, she suddenly started breathing heavily and became unconscious. Before Lucy was taken to hospital, she had already died and the doctors merely confirmed her dead.

It was not certain what actually caused her death, but her body has been deposited at the Badagry  General Hospital for autopsy.

The matter was reported at the Badagary police division and Chukwuma, who also has three children, was arrested and the matter was transferred to SCID, Panti, Yaba for further investigation.

After investigation, the police charged him to Ebute-meta Magistrate’s court for causing Lucy’s death through unlawful carnal knowledge of her.

His plea was not taken.

The court ordered him to be remanded in prison custody at Ikoyi pending the outcome of the autopsy report and DPP’s advice.

The father of the late Lucy, Joseph Ebieme, who confirmed the incident, said he was at his work place when he was called on his phone line and told what happened.  He said when he rushed home and went to Lawrence’s house, his daughter was already dead.

The younger sister of the deceased, Blessing Ebieme, said she came from her house in Ikorodu area to Badagry to take care of the children Lucy left behind.

Lucy hailed from Eket in Akwa Ibom State and had three children, Joy, 12, Isaiah 10, and Miracle, 5.

One-year-old Baby Bites Snake To Death

An encounter between a snake and a baby ended in a surprising outcome Thursday, when the infant's mother walked into his room to find him chewing on the dead reptile.

The infant, Imad Gadir, whose family resides in Shfaram, was not hurt when he bit the unlucky coin snake, but was taken to Haifa's Ramabam Medical Center, just in case.

According to Imad's grandfather, Shaheen Shaheen, who recalled the family's tumultuous morning, the boy woke up when his father left for work at 6:30 am. The 1-year-old left his parents' bed and headed to his room, where he found the 35-centimeter (13-inch) snake. He then grabbed it and bit its head off.

"It wasn't a pretty sight," Shaheen said. "He's a baby, he didn't know what he was doing. He thought it was a game. I don't wish this kind of thing on anyone."

When Imad's mother realized what had happened she began screaming, until a neighbor jumped the house's fence, entered the room and snatched the snake out of the boy's hand.

"I went to the kitchen to get him some milk, and when I came back I saw he was already eating," the mother, Alain, said. "I screamed until the neighbors came. I still can't believe what I saw."

Veteran snake-catcher Eli Cohen said he has never come across a case of this kind.

"I guess the kid acted out of a childish instinct when he put the snake in his mouth," he said. "Luckily for him, the coin snake isn't poisonous, otherwise it could have ended in a tragedy."

Eli Cohen, the owner of a pest control company, estimated that the snake was three years old, and said that his bite often hurts but is not dangerous to anyone who isn't allergic to it. He said that this type of reptile chokes his prey. "If it was a bigger snake, the boy could have been strangled."

How My Fiance Poured A Pot Of Boiling Stew On Me [Pix]

A 27-year-old woman, Mary Sunday, has been in the hospital bed at Igbobi Orthopaedic Hospital seven months after she was allegedly attacked by her fiancé, Corporal Isaac Gbanwuan, with a pot of boiling stew and a lighted stove. It was learnt that Sunday had lost her ears due to the attack.

According to Mary:

I have known Gbanwuan for a while, while I was still a student at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, but it wasn’t until our marriage introduction in 2011 that I moved in with him at the Pedro Police Barracks, Lagos.
“On the day I was assaulted, Gbanwuan and I went to see our doctor. We had some health issues. While we were on our way back home, I made a phone call. Immediately we got home, Gbanwuan started querying me. He accused me of keeping lovers and claimed the person I called was my lover.
“I tried to explain to him that it was my sister I called, but Gbanwuam was not listening. He began to beat me,”
“Then to the horror of those who tried to intervene, Gbanwuan seized his neighbour’s cooking stove on which was a pot of boiling stew, emptying the entire contents on me.
“I don’t know for how long I was unconscious but I was later told that I was in a coma for seven days. I learnt the stove also exploded after Gbanwuan threw it with the boiling soup at me.
“I was first rushed to a private hospital at Bariga before I was eventually transferred to Igbobi hospital.
“I couldn’t tell my family for a while because I could not use my hands; they were sort of stuck to my chest. It was after much treatment, that I was able to use my hands and call my family.

...but when PUNCH Metro contacted Gbanwaun, he denied causing any harm to his fiancée.

He said,

What Mary has told you are all lies. She has been going about saying all sorts of things about me.
“That is how she wrote a petition through her lawyer to the Lagos State Police Command. Anyway, the matter is already being investigated by the command"

A neighbour, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said “She has been at home for the past two months always complaining of one ailment or the other and the mother had to take her to the General Hospital after home medication could not heal her in the hope that she could be treated there.”

The neighbour, said when the teenage girl was confronted by her mother, who allegedly sells hot drinks and illicit drugs over who was responsible for the pregnancy, she mentioned one Tony, one of the boys that patronises her mother’s hot drinking joint.

However, the source hinted that when Tony was confronted, he said “He was the one who dated the teenage girl first but another customer, Jones snatched her from him and when Jones was confronted, he said he had since stopped dating the girl and mentioned another person, who when also confronted, mentioned another boy and at the last count, the number was five.”

It was gathered that the mother was infuriated when her daughter confirmed that she slept with all the boys mentioned and could not actually tell who was responsible. It was also gathered that two of the boys mentioned were tenants living in the woman’s house.

Out of annoyance, “She has since asked the two young men living in her house to quit but they are asking for time to secure another accommodation before they can vacate the house.”

When the distraught mother was asked what she was going to do with the daughter’s predicament, tears rolled down her cheek, as she said “I leave everything to God.”

When the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr John Umoh, was contacted, he said the incident had not been reported to the police.

Woman Gives Birth To Frog-Like Baby In Ekiti [Picture]

After 13 months of pregnancy, a woman in Ekiti finally gave birth to a baby with anencephaly in Ekiti.

Anencephaly is a medical condition caused by a neural tube defect, which causes the baby to have frog-like features. Children born with this condition lack the forebrain which is responsible for cognition i.e thinking. The remaining brain tissue is often exposed—not covered by bone or skin.

There is no cure or standard treatment for anencephaly and the prognosis for patients is poor. Most anencephalic babies do not survive birth, accounting for 55% of non-aborted cases. If the infant is not stillborn, then he or she will usually die within a few hours or days after birth from cardiorespiratory arrest.

25-Year-Old Student Stripped unclad For Sleeping With Married Man

There was drama in Chitungwiza on Monday morning when a married man was caught with a lover after taking advantage of his wife’s one night absence.
Leonard Gandari’s wife had gone to Banket where she was attending a funeral and Leonard deemed that as a golden opportunity to ‘import’ a ‘prostitute’ into their matrimonial house in Zengeza 4, in the presence of his wife’s siblings. The lover was identified as Memory Mupindu (25) and she was stripped by angry neighbours after the couple overslept and Leonard was late to ‘deport’ his catch before co-tenants and his wife’s siblings had woken up. Memory refused to be labeled a prostitute arguing that she had been made to believe that Leonard was single hence she slept comfortably up to the time when neighbours were sweeping their yards. “I’m not a prostitute but we were in love. We met two weeks ago and he told me that he was not married and he stays with his sisters. We came together yesterday night without any idea that things will generate into such chaos. I am in form four at herentals college in Chitungwiza,” said the woman as tears rolled down her cheeks. Leonard could not give his side of the story as he fled. Neighbours saw Memory trying to scale over the pre-cast wall in a bid to escape after realising that she had overslept. She was however, unlucky and was thoroughly beaten up and stripped. “It is the wife’s young sister who smelt a rat and woke up and Memory sensed danger and tried to escape but in vain,” narrated one of the neighbours.

Angry residents went on to call Leonard’s wife identified as Mirriam Chinduta who arrived at the scene and found the scene still ‘fresh’. The wife broke into the house to find the alleged prostitute on her sofas. Residents were bitter that Leonard abuses his wife by regularly assaulting her which he confirmed by again assaulting her after she confronted him over the issue. Mirriam reportedly sought refuge at a nearby house in fear of being attacked. The seemingly too violent Leonard tried to attack the news crew but shied away from the lenses. Fearing the mob, largely made up of the fairer sex, Leonard locked himself in the house, leaving his mistress to face the music. A close source said Leonard sneaked the O-Level student into the house around 9pm and at around 11pm, his wife’s sister and children heard voices in the bedroom. “We were seated in the house and at around 11pm we heard voices and sent in his young child who told us that there was a lady on his bed. We went in but we couldn’t find her because she was hiding. We woke up at around 4am and sat in the dining room and he (Leonard) was just milling around and he could not go to work, which made us suspicious and we guarded the gate. Later we heard our neighbour screaming that there was someone on the wall and we saw her and caught her,” revealed the mole.
