HORRIBLE: 18-Yr-Old Girl Shot Twice, Thrown In Canal For Marrying The Man she loves [Pix]

As the world is still reeling from the gruesome death of a Pakistani woman who was stoned to death and had her head smashed by her family because she married for love, the trend of “honour killing’ has affected yet another victim.

18-year-old Saba Maqsood was attacked by her her father, uncle, brother and aunt and she was shot twice, put in a sack and thrown in a canal.



Luckily, the teenager survived the attack. Her crime was marrying a man she loved, a neighbour identified as Muhammad Qaiser.

According to police spokesperson Ali Akbar, the victim, Saba … married her neighbour Muhammad Qaiser for love five days ago against the wishes of her family. They took her to Hafizabad, shot her twice and threw her in the canal after putting her in a sack, presuming that she was dead.

‘Her relatives fled the scene, and after minutes in the water she regained consciousness and struggled to the bank, where passers-by helped her. She is a brave girl. She came out of the canal and approached a nearby fuel station from where a rescue team rushed her to hospital.

Saba told the police that her family was responsible for the attack. She said:

‘I was tortured and shot by my father Maqsood Ahmad, brother Faisal Maqsood, uncle Ashfaq Ahmad and his wife Sajida Bibi.”

An investigation has begun to the attack and the police are said to have visited the victim’s home but all the suspects had disappeared. Photos below:

Pregnant Woman Stoned to Death by Family for Marrying the Man she Loved [Pix]

A pregnant woman has been stoned to death by her own family in front of a Pakistani high court - for marrying the man she loved.

Nearly 20 members of the woman's family, including her father and brothers, attacked her and her husband with batons and bricks in broad daylight.

Farzana Parveen, who was three months pregnant, was killed before a crowd of onlookers in front of the high court of Lahore, police have reported.

Police official Naseem Butt said the 25-year-old had married Mohammad Iqbal, with whom she had been engaged for years against the will of her family.

Her father had filed an abduction case against her husband, which the couple was contesting, her lawyer Mustafa Kharal said.

Arranged marriages are considered normal among conservative Pakistanis, who view marriage for love as a transgression.

Hundreds of women are killed every year in Muslim-majority Pakistan in so-called 'honour killings' carried out by husbands or relatives as a punishment for alleged adultery or other illicit sexual behavior.

Kharal said Parveen's relatives waited outside the court, which is located on a main downtown thoroughfare. 

As the couple walked up to the court's main gate, the family members fired shots in the air and tried to snatch her from Iqbal, he said.

When she resisted, her father, brothers and other relatives started beating her, eventually pelting her with bricks from a nearby construction site, Iqbal said.

Iqbal, 45, said he started seeing Parveen after the death of his first wife, with whom he had five children.

'We were in love,' he told reporters.

He alleged that the woman's family wanted to fleece money from him before marrying her off.

'I simply took her to court and registered a marriage,' he said.

Butt, the police official, said Parveen's father surrendered after the incident and called the murder an 'honor killing.'  

The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, a private organisation, said in a report last month that some 869 women were murdered in so-called honour killings in 2013.

But the Pakistani rights group, The  Aurat Foundation, has said the figure could be closer to a thousand and some estimate the true number could be higher still.

Campaigners say few cases come to court, and those that do can take years to be heard.

Even those that do result in a conviction may end with the killers walking free. Pakistani law allows a victim's family to forgive their killer.

The law allows them to nominate someone to do the murder, then forgive him.

'This is a huge flaw in the law,' he said. 'We are really struggling on this issue.'

Residents Stone Suspected Robbers To Death In Lagos [Pix]

Two unidentified persons were stoned to death in the Sabo, Yaba area of Lagos State after being apprehended by youths for allegedly robbing a resident of his phones.

Reportedly, the alleged robbers attacked a 79-year-old man, Pa Emmanuel Thomas, in his apartment around 4am on Saturday.

The elderly man said that the robbers beat up his guest and demanded that he gave them all his money.
He said, “I was in my room and a guest was in my sitting room. But because there was no electricity, I opened the main doors for cross ventilation. A few minutes later, two young guys barged into the house.

“One of them slapped my female guest who was in the sitting room and snatched her phone and charger, the other guy told me to give him all my money and I told him all I had was N30 which was kept inside my Bible. They also snatched my telephone and wristwatch.”

It was learnt that prior to the robbery, youths in the area had been suspicious of the alleged robbers, wondering what the strange men wanted on their street at that odd hour.

One of the youths, who craved anonymity, said, “Around 3.30am, I was returning from a carnival when I noticed two strange faces on Little Road. When the guys saw me, they pretended to be fixing an abandoned bus and were talking as if they were a bus driver and his conductor waiting for daybreak.

“When I walked past, they continued to roam the street, so I informed one of my friends and together, we tailed them. Suddenly, they entered Pa Thomas’s house and then I heard the elderly man screamed for help.

“We quickly surrounded the house and dared the robbers to come out. When they saw that they were trapped, one of them jumped the fence into the next compound which is on Little Road. I was able to arrest one, while the other one escaped.”

It was learnt that the arrested robber was beaten up to a pulp.

It was also learnt that an hour later, the second robber, who hid inside another compound, was exposed by a resident and was also handed over to the irate youths.

The youths were said to have beaten up the two robbers mercilessly.
