Boko Haram Abducts 100 Young Men in Borno.

Islamist militant sect Boko Haram is yet to #BringBackOurGirls and now, a report states they have taken young men.

Reports claimed that during a Sunday attack in Doron Baga, Borno community, 100 boys and young men were abducted while 10 were allegedly killed by Boko Haram.

According to the news publication, some of those that fled the area were sighted in Maiduguri on Thursday. They said they had to flee because of the constant attacks by the insurgents.

Halima Alhaji Adamu, one of the displaced persons said six members of Hadejia community in Doron Baga were killed and about 100 young men were abducted on Sunday when the sect launched an attack on their community, displacing thousands who are now refugees in parts of Borno and Yobe states.

Halima also said that she lost her husband in the attack. She claims the insurgents are believed to have abducted the young men in order to forcefully conscript them.

    “The attack was on Sunday, in my family they killed six people, I don’t know about the other families but the Hadaijawa community which I belong also had 100 of the abducted by the insurgents.  I think it is better to go and live with family members than opting for camps. We lost everything we have worked for, and I don’t think the camp will be a better place for us. With family members, we can have the courage to face life again but the camp will continue to make us reflect on our predicament because there is no care as such no focus for one to engage himself or herself into doing something meaningful.”

17-Yr-Old Malala Donates $200,000 For Abducted Girls Education

Pakistani activist on girl child education, MalalaYousafzai, who was shot on the head by Taliban in her country over her crusade on Monday, July 14, 2014 visited President Goodluck Jonathan and announced the donation of $200, 000 from her foundation for the education of Chibok schoolgirls who were abducted by Boko Haram.

During her visit to the Presidential Villa, the 17-year-old disclosed that President Jonathan gave assurance that he was ready to meet the parents of the abducted schoolgirls at any time.

In his remarks, President Jonathan said: “I personally believe that since about 50 per cent of our population are female, we will be depriving ourselves of half of our available human resources if we fail to educate our girls adequately or suppress their ambitions in any way. We are therefore taking steps to curb all forms of discrimination against girls and women, and have also undertaken many affirmative actions on their behalf.

“Terror is relatively new here and dealing with it has its challenges. The great challenge in rescuing the Chibok girls is the need to ensure that they are rescued alive.The Govt and its security agencies were very mindful of the need to avoid the scenario in rescue attempts in other parts of the world where lives of abductees were lost in the efforts to rescue them.”

The Director of Operations of Malala Foundation, Shiza Shahid, told State House correspondents that the President said to Malala that “he can guarantee that all the girls that have been kidnapped, including the ones that escaped, will be given scholarships to go to school in other parts of the country”.

July 14 is Malala Day, a day set aside by the United Nations for the world to focus on putting all girls to school.
She said: “I am here in Nigeria on my 17th birthday for a price, which is to see that every child goes to school.
“This year, my objective is to speak up for my Nigerian sisters, about 200 of them who are under the abduction of Boko Haram.

Malala said the Malala Foundation has raised $200,000 for the abducted schoolgirls, adding: “And we want to use it to contribute to those children’s education.

A new twist into efforts aimed at rescuing the 200 girls of the Government Girls College, Chibok unfolded Wednesday with the Nigeria Police force announcing a mouth watering cash reward of N50million to anyone who volunteers credible information that will lead to their rescue

Making the disclosure in a statement signed by the Force Public Relations officer, CSP Frank Mba, the Police called on all Nigerians and general public to be part of the solution to the present security challenge.

It assured all citizens that any information given would be treated anonymously and with utmost confidentiality.

Meanwhile, the Defence headquarters has assured protesters from different parts of the country that it was treating the issue of the abduction of over 200 school girls from Chibok town in Borno state as a special test case pointing out that the military is committed to bringing back the girls.

Director Defence Information, Major General Chris Olukolade made the disclosure to the media and scores of protesters after a closed door meeting between selected leaders of the a protest group that stormed DHQ and top officers of Defence headquarters.

According to General Olukolade “Nigerian military is freshly committed to finding the girls. Let me assure the Nigerian the public that the best will be done to bring back our girls safe and alive. Please, keep supporting us, keep praying along. We will get result very soon.”

One of the leaders of the protesting group, Dr Jibrin Ibrahim in his response said, “The key outcome of the interaction we have had is that the priority for this nation, for the military and for us, the Civil Society is to bring back our girls.”

“They have committed to intensifying their efforts, but above all to produce results in the shortest possible time. They have briefed us fully about the activities they have engaged in, a lot of which we do not want to reveal in the open”.

Dr Ibrahim added, “I want to assure you that the very clear message we got from them is that their engagement is serious, is being escalated and is focused on the objective of bringing back our girls alive and safe.”

While speaking with the protesters, General Olukolade told them, “Your concerns are our concerns, these children are our children as well, in this building you see here, there are people who have children and relations among those people; so we equally share your concern and be sure that we are not leaving Nigerians alone.”

Furthermore, he said, “we are not shirking our responsibilities. This meeting will give us the opportunity to explain to you the efforts that are ongoing at the level of the military and the government; be sure that every effort is ongoing to bring back our daughters and our children alive.”

One of the protesters Saudatu Mahdi, who read from a prepared speech said, “Millions around the world have been unable to come to terms with the loss; today millions of Nigerian women and men call on the federal government and the security agencies to find and bring back these girls currently living in captivity”.

She added, “These young girls are daughters, sisters, nieces, women and mothers; those that are directly affected grieve and we as Nigerian and Human beings join them in their anguish and distress, we want them back safe in their homes where they belong.”

Mahdi also said the trend of conflicting information about the exact number of the girls that are missing are weak and unconvincing adding “This makes it imperative for all Nigerians to amplify and demand of those with the responsibility to for the safety of all Nigerians to act and constructively engage to find and return these girls to their parents.”

“As citizen it is our right and responsibility to ask question so we ask that in this age of Google maps and Ariel surveillance, how is it possible that the rescue of over 200 girls is giving us so much challenge”.

Chairman Chibok Community in Abuja, Hosea Tsambido in tears, begged the federal government to do everything possible to bring back the girls.

Among the top military officers who hosted the protesters at the Defence Headquarters included the Chief of Administration, Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ogbor, Director Defence Communication, Major General Odunukwe, Chief of Policy and Plans, Air Vice Marshal A. Iya, and Director Military Intelligence, Major General L. W. Wiwa.

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Tuesday welcomed and accepted a definite offer of help from the United States of America in the ongoing effort to locate and rescue the girls abducted from the Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok three weeks ago.

The offer from President Barack Obama which was conveyed to President Jonathan by the United States Secretary of State, Mr. John Kerry in a telephone conversation which began at 15.30 Hours today, includes the deployment of U.S. security personnel and assets to work with their Nigerian counterparts in the search and rescue operation. Mr. Kerry assured President Jonathan that the United States’ is wholly committed to giving Nigeria all required support and assistance to save the abducted girls and bring the reign of terror unleashed on parts of the country by Boko Haram to an end.

Thanking Mr. Kerry for the call and offer of further assistance, President Jonathan told him that Nigeria’s security agencies who were already working at full capacity to find and rescue the abducted girls would appreciate the deployment of American counter-insurgency know-how and expertise in support of their efforts.

After speaking with the United States Secretary of State, President Jonathan today met with the Chief of Defence Staff, Service Chiefs and heads of national security agencies in continuation of the national efforts to find and rescue the abducted girls.
The President received updates on the ongoing search and rescue effort, and gave approval for recommended further actions.

#BringBackOurGirls: I Will Sell The Girls- Boko Haram Leader

Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau who claimed responsibility for the abduction of hundreds of schoolgirls in northern Nigeria that has triggered international outrage, has threatened to sell them as “slaves”.

PROTEST1“I abducted your girls,” said Abubakar Shekau, leader of the Islamist group, referring to the 276 students kidnapped from their boarding school in Chibok, Borno state, three weeks ago.

The comments were made in a 57-minute video obtained by AFP.

“I abducted a girl at a Western education school and you are disturbed. I said Western education should end. Western education should end. Girls, you should go and get married,” he said.

“I will repeat this: Western education should fold up. I abducted your girls.”

“I will sell them in the market, by Allah,” Shekau said, claiming his group was holding the girls as “slaves”.

 “I will marry off a woman at the age of 12. I will marry off a girl at the age of nine,” he said elsewhere in the video.

 Unconfirmed reports from local leaders in Chibok suggested that the girls had been taken across Nigeria’s borders with Chad and Cameroon and sold as brides for as little as two thousand naira (N2, 000)

When 100 armed men turned up at a girls’ boarding school they claimed to be Nigerian gov­ern­ment troops sent to protect the pupils from marauding terrorists.

Staff took them at their word and it was only when 329 terrified teenagers were ordered out of their beds in the dead of night and herded into Toyota Hilux jeeps that they knew something was wrong.

In fact the soldiers were themselves terrorists from the radical Muslim jihadist group Boko Haram – and they were there to carry out one of worst mass kidnappings in modern history.

According to reports in UK’s Daily Mirror, families of the schoolgirls, aged from 15 to 18, are certain their daughters are now being used as sex slaves by an extreme sect that has killed 1,500 people since the start of this year alone.

They are captives in the wild Sambisa Forest in north-east Nigeria where Boko Haram has a heavily armed camp of bunkers, tunnels, ramshackle buildings and tents.

One girl who recently escaped following an earlier kidnapping told the newspaper that she was prized as a terror leader’s wife because she had been a virgin. She said young female captives were molested up to 15 times a day, forced to convert to Islam and had their throats cut if they refused.

Since the school abductions on April 14, news has filtered back of mass marriages with girls forcibly shared out as brides. Boko Haram has warned that any attempt to find them will lead to their execution.

Schoolgirls Abduction: 4 Battalions Mobilise Set to Invade Sambisa Forest [BringBackOurGirls]

The Nigerian Army has concluded plans to storm Sambisa Forest with about four battalions this weekend to secure the abducted 234 students of the Government Girls’ Secondary School (GGSS), Chibok, Borno State. A military source who disclosed the development last night added that a little more than a Brigade of the Nigerian Army had been moved to the forest and are taking positions in and around all the access routes into and outside the Sambisa forest where the girls have been confirmed to be holed up with their captors.

These four girls were among those who managed to escape after being abducted by the gunmen.

The source said, “Let me tell you that fighter jets of the Nigerian Air Force as well as police surveillance helicopters have been mobilised and are waiting for the command to begin the joint security operations for rescue efforts of the abducted schoolgirls. 

“Due to the dangerous nature of the operation which will result in soldiers and security agencies encountering booby traps, land mines, ambush and other unknown traps from the side of the terrorists, Air Force fighter aircraft, helicopter gunships and Police surveillance helicopters would carry out round the clock missions to ensure the success of the operation.” Speaking further, the top officer said that since the forest shares borders with towns in Adamawa, Yobe, Borno and Cameroon, the different battalions would each launch their offensive from these locations.
