Bomb Explosion Rocks Bauchi Road Motor Car Park In Jos

An explosion has occurred at the Bauchi Road motor park in Jos, and many people are feared killed.



A witness, Awalu Sani, told PREMIUM TIMES the explosion has killed a yet unknown number of people, injuring several others and destroying many vehicles.

Details of the incident are still sketchy. The Police in Jos could not be reached for comments at this time.

The report of the explosion in Jos came hours after another suicide bombing killed 20 people and injured 17 others in Biu, Borno state.

The suicide bomber, driving a tricycle, had scaled through a security checkpoint, blasting himself near a crowded neighbourhood.

The suicide attack occurred at about 3pm when the male bomber sneaked past a the checkpoint which another suicide bomber attacked last Wednesday, and detonated the explosive after alighting from a commercial tricycle, popularly known as Keke Napep.

A witness, who identified himself as Nasiru, ‎said, “The suicide bomber had come off the Keke Napep and was heading towards the roadside when the bomb went off, killing those that were inside the Keke Napep and those standing by the road side.

“Though the suicide bomber did not die immediately, he was later shot dead by angry members of Civillian-JTF. Many have been injured and some have died including the suicide bomber.”

Many killed as suicide bomber hits Borno bus station

A suicide bomber blew himself up at a crowded bus station in Biu, in Borno state, on Thursday, while a second bomber was shot dead before he could detonate his explosives, witnesses told AFP.
Babagana Kyari, a civilian vigilante, said “at least 18 people, including three women, died… and several others were injured” although there was no immediate corroboration of that death toll.

The attack happened after two men arrived the Tashar Gandu motor park on the edge of the town in Borno state, where one detonated his explosives among passengers and vendors, onlookers said.

The suicide bombing is the second this week, after 34 people were killed in a blast at a bus station in the city of Kano, on Tuesday. The death toll was revised upwards from the initial estimate of 10.

Another blast hours earlier, also at a bus station, killed 17 in the commercial capital of Yobe state, Potiskum, but it was not confirmed as a suicide attack.

No group has claimed responsibility for either bombing but Boko Haram has repeatedly targeted both places, as well as Biu.

On February 18, 36 people were killed when assailants in a motorised rickshaw detonated explosies at Yarmakumi village near Biu, with most of the victims child vendors and beggars.

The attacks again underscore the threat posed by Boko Haram, which experts say may resort to such tactics as they are pushed out of captured territory in the northeast by a multi-national military force.

The two men in the latest attack pretended to be traders leaving Biu after business at the main market, which takes place every Thursday and Sunday, said Kyari.

“The two men came as if they were travellers and one of them detonated his explosives in the midst of travellers and petty traders,” the vigilante added.

“But the second man was shot and killed by soldiers before he could pulled the trigger.”

Resident Ali Dauda said the scene was cordoned off by soldiers and vigilantes, while they waited the arrival of the police bomb squad to defuse the unexploded explosives on the second attacker.

“The first bomber succeeded in detonating his explosives, which caused many casualties, but the second bomber was killed and his body is still lying at the scene with the explosives on it,” he added.

Male suicide bomber kills 3 at restaurant in Potiskum, Yobe

At least 3 people have been confirmed dead after a male suicide bomber blew himself up at Alamin Restaurant along Damaturu road in Potiskum, Yobe state this afternoon killing himself and two others. 21 people were severely injured. According to the state Police Public Relations officer ASP Toyin Gbadegesin, the suicide bomber attacked the restaurant at about 2pm today. Bodies of the dead have been taken to the morgue at the Potiskum General Hospital while the injured ones are receiving treatment.

Explosion rocks three Rivers state High Courts

Unknown persons carried out a coordinated bomb attack on three separate High Courts in Degema, Isiokpo and Port Harcourt areas of Rivers state this morning. According to reports, the bombs went off almost at the same time, burning court documents beyond recognition.

The state police command confirmed the incident and said investigation is ongoing to bring the culprits to book. Fortunately no life was lost...

Bomb blast reported close to GEJ's campaign venue in Gombe

A bomb blast occurred this afternoon at Abubakar Habu Hashidu Road, about 200 meters from the  Pantami stadium, venue of President Jonathan's campaign in Gombe state today.

Twin bomb explosion rocked the popular GSM market in Potiskum, Yobe state today. According to eye-witnesses, the explosions were so powerful that it resulted in the collapse of some buildings around where it exploded.

Yobe state police commissioner Marcus Danladi has confirmed the blast but says number of casualty is yet unknown.

Troops are holding a man suspected to be connected with the explosion targeted at General Buhari on Wednesday.  The young man who was apprehended by military patrol team that swooped on the area immediately after the explosion, had disguised as a woman clad in female garb to exude femininity with a brazier affixed to his chest.



 

The suspect was arrested while trying to fizzle into a crowd of onlookers when the patrol team arrived the scene.  Youths in the area attempted to mob him while he was being arrested but were restrained by troops who quickly whisked him away in an armoured personnel carrier.
He is currently being interrogated by security agencies in a bid to ascertain his links

An explosion has occurred in Kaduna today.
“The blast scattered debris and dead bodies on the Alkali Road in the city,” killing at least 10 people, a witness has said.
The blast occurred Wednesday afternoon along Isa Kaita road which leads to the popular Murtala Square.
A witness said the explosion is believed to have been targeted at the convoy a prominent Islamic cleric, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, who was on his way to the Square.

2nd Jos Bomb Blast Captured On Camera [Video]

A local television station in Nigeria captures the moment a second bomb ripped through a bustling bus terminal and market frequented by thousands of people in Nigeria’s central city of Jos.

At least 118 people were killed and dozens more injured when two car bombs exploded at a busy bus terminal and market in Nigeria’s central city of Jos on Tuesday.

The second blast, which was captured on camera by a local television station, came half an hour after the first, killing some of the rescue workers who had rushed to the scene.

Huge plumes of black smoke could be seen rising from the fires that, according to emergency crews, were still burning some eight hours later.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attacks
