Austria-Based Nigerian Woman Murdered By Her Edo State Lover During Christmas [Pix]
The Edo State Police Command of the Nigeria Police Force has declared a
manhunt for a suspected witness of a dastardly murder that was likely
committed in the early hours of Christmas Day.

The manhunt followed the arrest by the Ikpoba Hill Police Division of the suspected murderer, Mr. Festus Aimufua, for the wicked murder of one Ms. Rose Aifuwa, a middle-aged Benin woman based in Austria, who had come home in a healthy, hale and hearty condition to celebrate the Christmas and New Year festivities with her family and friends.
Mr. Aimufua, who was said to be a lover of Ms. Aifuwa before she travelled to Austria, murdered the deceased and thereafter dumped her corpse on the road along Upper Mission Street extension around Oando Filling Station in Benin City in the early hours of Christmas Day.
The gory sight of the woman’s physically assaulted and mangled body on the tarred road of the highly populated market street soon attracted a large crowd of onlookers some of whom would in no time identify her corpse and family, resulting to the invitation of the police and eventually, investigation into her sudden death.
In spite of the scanty information surrounding the death, the state police command soon began to unravel the mystery surrounding the woman’s death with the arrest of the lover in connection to the murder.
Saturday Mirror reliably gathered that Mr. Aimufua, the alleged murderer and lover popularly known as “Two Million,” might have killed the deceased after she insisted on collecting a certain amount of money running into millions of naira, which he allegedly owed her.
Sources said the debt accrued from the unpaid spare parts the woman supplied the lover boy who owns a spare parts shop in Benin City.
As at the time of filing this report on Boxing Day, the police had already began its search for an alleged accomplice of the murder, who witnessed and possibly assisted the prime suspect to carry out the heinous act.
Saturday Mirror further gathered that the case would be transferred to the State Crime Investigation Department (SCID) for a detailed investigation of the murder.
While police investigations continue, family members and residents of the community have been calling for justice for the family of the dead since Christmas Day.

All Because Of N200! Landlady Allegedly Kills Tenant In Lagos [Pix]
A 27-year old Michael
Abodunrin who lived at No 12b, Adeyiga Street, L&K bus stop
Oworoshoki in Lagos has been sent to an early grave by his landlady.
Micheal had an argument with his landlady over N200 around 9pm on the
6th of December, 2014 which made her allegedly ordered her thugs (one
OmoJesu and others) to beat Micheal up before he passed on in the
process.
The case is already at Alonge Police Station, but Mrs Idowu Adenekan has been quoted to have said Micheal only died for nothing, because she is untouchable and there's nothing anyone can do to her. The police have also been accused of taking sides and doing little or nothing about the matter because of the woman's connections. Too sad!

During interrogation, the suspect said:
“I had not met the young man before. I met him that morning at the Alaba market, and asked him to buy one of my appliances: an air conditioner. He actually looked like a cart pusher. When we got home, we both went in to remove the product, and we brought it outside for negotiation. As we continued, he said he would pay less than N5, 000. I replied that he should assist me to return it to where we took it from, but he refused. In the process, we started fighting. He even asked me to pay him for helping me bring it out. I was mad, and I hit his belly with a plank. When I realised he had fainted, I tied him with a rope and dragged him into a corner. I also fled the house.”It was one of Ikonne’s co-tenants who noticed Yaya’s tied up corpse, raised an alarm, and reported the case to the Okokomaiko police station.

A Chicago high school student has been charged with first degree
murder after placing her newborn child in a Walmart bag and then leaving
the baby outside to die because he looked like his father, her
ex-boyfriend.
Suspicions about Mora arose after staff members at her high school noticed on Monday that she’d recently given birth. Mora showed them a photo of a baby girl on her iPad claiming it was hers, according to Assistant State’s Attorney Glen Runk. The photo turned out to be a picture of a baby downloaded from the Internet.
Mora mentioned the discovery of the dead baby discovered near her home to the staffers and asked whether police had the right to take DNA from people in her house and whether the DNA would show who the child’s mother was.
A school staff member called police who interviewed Mora, before taking her into custody and charging her with murder.
According to the Cook County medical examiner’s office, the baby — found in the shopping bag with the placenta and umbilical cord — was born alive and died of asphyxia and exposure.
Mora had been on track to graduate high school this year with plans to attend college.

Boko Haram Slaughter Pastor and 10 Worshippers In Adamawa State
Barely a week after unknown gunmen struck in a Catholic Church in
Chakawa village in Madagali local government area of Adamawa State,
killing over 35 persons, another community in the local government has
been attacked by suspected terrorists who killed a pastor and 10 members
of his congregation.
The latest attack occurred on Friday night when gunmen attacked the EYN Church at Sabo Gari Gemadai Ward in Gulak, the local government headquarters.
The Chairman of the local government, Mr. Ularamu Maina, who confirmed the attack, disclosed that the pastor in-charge of the church was among those killed during the attack. According to him, the attackers, in their large number, at about 8.30 pm, stormed the church where worshippers were undergoing night vigil.
“On entering the church, the attackers started shooting sporadically killing many people, including the pastor”, Maina stated.
“The attack left the town in confusion as people ran helter skelter even as the attackers continued to unleash terror and wanton killings”.
The attack came hours after the Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Ahmadu Fintiri, visited Chakawa village, venue of last Sunday attack, where he sympathized with the people and donated relief materials.
The Speaker, while fielding questions from newsmen, called on the Federal Government to deploy more troops to the area to enable them cover all the nooks and crannies in the mountainous terrain.
He observed that the state of emergency presently operating in the state only covers the highways, leaving rural dwellers at the mercy of attackers.
Fintiri warned that unless urgent measures are adopted by the authorities, the people of Madagali local government, which shares common border with Borno State, might migrate enmasse.
Apart from the terror attacks, the local government has, of recent, become a hot political bed in Adamawa State as the deputy governor, Bala James Ngillari, Special Adviser on Political Affairs to Mr. President, Alhaji Ahmed Gulak, and the House Speaker, Ahmadu Fintiri, hail from the local government and belong to different political groups.

Some Maiduguri Youth have formed anti-Boko Haram vigilante.
At least 16 suspected Boko Haram members were killed in separate incidents by security personnel in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital in the last 48 hours; while the sect’s members allegedly shot dead 13 civilians in the troubled city, sources said.
Naija Newz reporter on
Saturday saw decomposing corpses of eight people, believed to be members
of the Boko Haram. The corpses were dumped in a ditch near Biu road
bridge of Maiduguri even as residents of the area said the victims died
on the spot after a shootout between them and soldiers at about 10:30
p.m. on Thursday.
A security operative who doesn’t want to be named because he was not permitted to speak to the press told Naija Newz that “among the eight corpses were three teenagers who were arrested with arms earlier on Thursday and they led soldiers of the JTF to the five others who usually send them on kill operations.”
The source added that the five persons resisted arrest by firing on soldiers who gunned them down and dropped their corpses in the ditch.
Barely 24 hours later, another set of eight suspected Boko Haram gunmen were on Friday shot dead after they opened fire and killed 13 innocent civilians among which was a middle aged woman popularly known as Hajia Ummu and her 70-year-old mother.
“The Boko Haram gunmen slipped through several security check posts by carrying their guns in a coffin covered with white clothe. When they got to Shehu street, they immediately brought out their guns from the coffin and began shooting sporadically; they continued shooting until they ran out of ammunition. Then some courageous youth rounded them up and handed them over to the soldiers, who shot them dead as they attempted to escape,” a witness, Sheriff Aji, told Naija Newz.
A bereaved relative, who did not want his name mentioned for security reasons, said “among the 13 persons shot dead by Boko Haram on Friday, were two family members of my late aunt, ‘Hajia Ummu, whose aged mother got killed.”
Naija newz reporter also saw corpses of the eight Boko Haram gunmen still laying unattended to as soldiers have of recent stopped taking them to the morgue.
Already, in Maiduguri, young men who are apparently fed up with the protracted insurgency have formed a voluntary vigilante group allegedly with the blessing of the JTF soldiers, and have been going street by street to fish out known Boko Haram members and hand them over to the military.
It was in apparent reaction to this development that the angry Boko Haram gunmen concealed their arms in a coffin behind a pick up van, and set out on a revenge mission to attack the vigilante youth, leading to the death of the 13 people

120 Boko Haram Members Arrested During Burial Of Their Commander
About 120 militant Islamists
have been arrested in Maiduguri, as they were organising the burial of
one of their commanders who died in an encounter with soldiers, an army
spokesman has said.
According to Brig Gen Olukolade, the 120 militants who were arrested were being interrogated in the custody of the Joint Task Force (JTF).
The latest arrest brought to more than 200 the number of Islamists the army says it has arrested since last week.
Defence spokesman, Brigadier General Chris Olukolade, in a press statement added that the military has also recaptured five areas from the militants.
He said the Special Forces had now secured the environs of New Marte, Hausari, Krenoa, Wulgo and Chikun Ngulalo, all in Borno state, after destroying all the terrorists’ camps sited in these localities.
The statement said that the troops were already interacting with locals and citizens assuring them of their safety and freedom from the activities of insurgents.
Brigadier General Olukolade said terrorists fleeing towards Chad and Niger Republic are being contained by the Multi-National Joint Task Force in various locations at the border.
He said during the raid on terrorist camps, the troops observed a few shallow graves believed to be those of hurriedly buried members.
“Advancing troops also observed a few shallow graves believed to be those of hurriedly buried members of the terrorist groups,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Defence Headquarters said it had observed the use of photographs purportedly taken in the areas raided by the Special Forces and wished to state that the photographs were questionable as they did not reflect any related reality of the social or geographical environment.
He said the story and pictures depicting Nigerians fleeing to Niger Republic and other countries were doubtful.
More than 2,000 Nigerians living in border villages in Borno State were reported to have fled as a result of the ongoing military operations targeted at routing the insurgents from the area.
The fleeing villagers were said to have headed to the neighbouring Niger Republic.
“Most of the residents of border villages of Borno have fled to Niger. About 2,000 people from Abadan, Malam Fatori and other villages are now refugees in Difa, Niger Republic,” a top security officer told a national dailies.
The source said that the Joint Military Task Force was on the trail of the members of the Boko Haram sect, who were dislodged from the Sambisa Game Reserve and other camps on Thursday in Borno State.
It was learnt that residents of Maiduguri and other communities far from the border, who did not want to be caught in the cross-fire have also fled to some neighbouring states, including Kano and Bauchi.
